HISTORY

OF THE

DIAMOND CLUB

History of the Organization
The organization was formed in 1983 by a group of former officers of the Sheboygan Softball Association in an effort to support that organization both financially and in an advisory capacity. Soon after that however, it became obvious that it created confusion between the two organizations since our original name was the Sheboygan Softball Foundation. We began to get requests from other organizations for support, and it was decided to expand our scope to include all athletic activities in the Sheboygan area, but retain our primary interest in softball. It was then in 1987 that our name was officially changed to the Sheboygan Diamond Club Foundation, Inc.

Our primary activity is to promote local athletics, particularly youth athletics, to meet our established motto of "Building a Cornerstone for Youth and Amateur Athletics". To meet this objective, we conduct fund raising events. In the past, two softball tournaments were sponsor and they accounted for most of our income, but we are a tax exempt 501(c) organization that can accept tax deductible donations from individuals organizations, or businesses. More recently, we teamed up with the Sheboygan Chapter of the Wisconsin Alumni Association and hosted a banquet at which the UW football coach was the guest speaker.  It was a huge success and we will try to make such an event an annual occurrence.

In addition to the above activities, we give two $750 scholarships to local seniors from any of the four local high schools.  More information about the scholarships can be found by clicking here.

Our long term goal is the development of a new Youth Baseball Diamond used exclusively for the youth of our area under the age of 13.  More information can be found at Youth Park
